The artistic vision for Tokyo Midtown is that of a traditional Japanese garden where diversified cultures come together.
Through a meticulous curation of artworks, we hoped to make this vision a reality. The two main artistic features are the white marble sculpture ISHINKI and
bronze sculpture MYOMU, created
by Kan Yasuda, warmly welcoming
visitors to Tokyo Midtown.
Today, art is one of the most important elements of a city. Art not only makes a city more beautiful; it also brings new energy, enhancing people's way of life.
The art project at Tokyo Midtown was undertaken with close collaboration among all involved, including art directors Toshio Shimizu and Jean-Hubert Martin, artists, architects, landscape architects and interior designers.
The result was an environment in which art has been integrated into the architecture, and harmonized with the functions of the town and the garden.
